Facility Maintenance Aboriginal Housing Contract

June 14, 2022

At the start of October 2021 Joss FM successfully commenced the AHO contract servicing some 950 properties across northern NSW. This contract sees Joss being responsible for responsive and planned works to each of the properties and a new Joss team was established to facilitate these works.

Being aboriginal housing there is heavy focus on engaging with the indigenous community and we are proud to note that of the requirement for 20% of the contract hours to be indigenous, we are sitting at 30% indigenous contract hours. In addition to this we are required to achieve a 5% spend towards indigenous companies and we are currently at 56%. Achieving these results isn’t easy and is a reflection of the hard work the AHO staff have put in over this short time.

At a recent AHO workshop in Tamworth comprising of AHO and Joss staff we were privileged to have the local Kamilaroi/Gomeroi peoples of the Kamilaroi Nation perform a smoking ceremony followed by traditional dancing performed by the local Goomeri Dance Company symbolling the creating of mother earth and the giving back to her.
