Case study: Wagga Wagga Multi-Sport Cycling Complex

Location: Wagga Wagga, NSW

Joss Construction delivered the Wagga Wagga Multi-Sport Cycling Complex at Pomingalarna Reserve under a full Design and Construct contract for the City of Wagga Wagga, completing the project two months ahead of schedule.

Spanning 22 hectares, the facility brings together seven cycling disciplines including Velodrome, Criterium Track, BMX Track, Mountain Bike Trails, Children’s Learn to Ride, Jump Track and Pump Track, alongside an Active Travel Path, centralised car parking, community building, kiosk and BBQ facilities. The result is a world-class, shared-use destination that serves the full spectrum of the local cycling community.

The design process involved deep and genuine stakeholder engagement, with Joss leading close consultation with local cycling groups, the First Nations Wiradjuri Women’s Group and a multidisciplinary team of specialist consultants spanning cultural heritage, bushfire, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, sports lighting, architectural, environmental, acoustic, access, landscaping and specialist mountain bike design disciplines. This collaborative approach ensured the final design was not only technically rigorous but meaningfully shaped by the communities it was built to serve.

Since opening, the complex has attracted hundreds of cycling enthusiasts weekly, a testament to both the quality of the facilities and the thorough community-led process that brought the project to life.
